Islamism

Islamism

Islamism is a political ideology that demands Islam as the guiding culture and legal order for state and society. Radical positions are often advocated, which advocate the violent implementation of Islamic norms and values and do not shy away from terrorist means. Islamism often distances itself from moderate Islamic currents and represents an anti-Western worldview that emphasises the conflict between Islam and the West. The ideology of Islamism is controversial and is seen by many as a threat to the free social order.

Islamism poses a threat to the free social order and is also an important issue in schools. There are worrying statistics showing that the influence of Islamist groups in schools is increasing. A study by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution from 2020 showed that extremist Islamist groups are deliberately trying to radicalise young people. In doing so, they also use the internet and social media to spread their messages.

To counteract this, it is important that schools take preventive measures. This includes our project days for young people to recognise extremist tendencies at an early stage and to react to them appropriately. Educating learners about the ideology of Islamism and its dangers can also help prevent them from being influenced by Islamist groups.

However, it is not only the task of schools, but also of society as a whole to take action against Islamism. A survey conducted by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior in 2021 showed that the majority of Germans consider the fight against Islamism important. It is therefore necessary that politics and society also take joint action against Islamism and set clear limits.

Islamism is an important issue that needs to be addressed in a preventive way. It is important to raise awareness among students, but also to train and support teachers and school staff. At the same time, social forces must also become active in order to counter the influence of Islamism and to protect our free social order.

Our project aims to support schools in countering the influence of Islamist groups and taking preventive measures. We offer playful exercises and training units to recognise extremist tendencies at an early stage and to react to them appropriately. In addition, we bring learners closer to the potential dangers of Islamism and its dangers.

Through our project, we want to contribute to making schools safe places where young people can develop undisturbed and are not influenced by extremist groups. We are convinced that preventive measures and education can help to reduce the influence of Islamism and protect our society from extremist tendencies. We invite schools to cooperate with us and to actively engage against Islamism.
