Aggression

Aggression

Aggression refers to the behaviour of people that aims to cause harm or injury. Both physical and psychological means can be used. Aggression can be triggered by various factors such as frustration, provocation, fears or even attacks on one's own person. It can occur in different intensities and forms and can be directed towards other people as well as towards oneself.

Aggression in schools is a serious problem that can affect both learners and teachers. According to a study by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, almost 50 per cent of learners say they have already experienced aggression at school. This ranges from verbal attacks and insults to physical violence. Another report by the German Teachers' Association shows that almost every second teacher has been the victim of violence or threats from learners.

Aggression can have many causes, including family problems, bullying or even stress due to pressure to perform. It is therefore important that schools not only focus on prevention, but also provide opportunities for effective conflict resolution and support for affected learners and teachers. Another study shows that learners who are in a positive, supportive environment are less likely to engage in aggressive behaviour.

To address the problem of aggression in schools, schools and teachers need to work closely with learners and parents. There are different approaches such as training for teachers and learners, setting up conflict resolution and mediation programmes, and creating a positive and respectful school climate. Through targeted measures, a climate can be created in which aggression and violence have no place and learners and teachers feel safe and supported.

Overall, it is important not to ignore or dismiss aggression in schools as part of everyday life. Instead, schools and society as a whole need to work together to create a positive environment for learners and teachers where conflicts can be resolved constructively.

Our project on anger management in schools aims to support learners who have difficulties in dealing with aggression. We want to help the children and young people concerned to better understand and regulate their emotions in order to reduce aggressive behaviour and promote constructive conflict resolution.

Our project is based on modern pedagogical approaches and is led by experienced peer educators. We work closely with you as a school to identify learners' needs and offer them individually adapted support. We are convinced that targeted support in the area of anger management can help to create a positive school climate and increase the well-being of all involved.
